Patient complaints: Maria presented with only her bottom canine teeth and extensive bone loss on the upper and lower jaw. She had lost her teeth likely two decades ago. The sinuses had invaded the upper jaw, leaving no available bone structure on the upper jaw.

Treatment plan: Maria came for a consultation and the doctors quickly realised this was a zygoma case. There was no other option available for Maria to receive a fixed denture. Zygoma implants differ from the traditional dental implant by utilising the cheekbone instead of the jawbone for support. The all on 4 implant technique was used for the bottom jaw.

Treatment time: 3 months

Result: Maria underwent general anaesthesia for zygoma treatment and required 3 months to heal. After 3 months the bone had fully integrated with the standard implants and zygoma implants. The implants were now ready to support dentures. She then received two fixed full zirconia arches (dentures). Maria had previously used uncomfortable removable dentures and now is able to have fixed dentures for a much more enjoyable quality of life. Maria’s case goes to show that despite the oral conditions, Dentares believes there is always hope for a smile makeover.

Patient complaints: Leighton presented with an overcrowding issue on the bottom jaw, discolouration and a grinding issue that caused chipping, a broken tooth and two thirds of the jaws had evidence of grinding wear.

Treatment plan: Leighton needed a broken tooth extracted and a protruding tooth extracted to make a straight smile line possible. 22 zirconia crowns were recommended for a smile makeover. Masseter botox to solve his bruxism and protect his restorations.

Treatment time: 5 days

Result: A broken molar was extracted and the patient chose to have a dental bridge system. A front tooth was extracted to make room for a symmetrical, straight front bite. Five root treatments were required for the bottom front teeth to avoid sensitivity. Then 22 zirconia crowns were placed on the smile area. Bruxism was very evident and so a botox injection was applied to the masseter muscles to immediately stop the bruxism symptoms. Leighton’s smile is now symmetrical, bleach white and confident. A night guard was given to avoid damage to restorations.

Patient complaints: Lee presented with only 1 posterior (back) tooth and so all her front teeth had been doing all the chewing that posterior teeth would normally do. This meant her teeth were worn and sensitive.

Treatment plan: All teeth were healthy enough to support smile makeover treatments so no extractions were necessary. Lee needed support and structure in the posterior of her jaws so 4 implants were recommended for each jaw. The upper left posterior side needed sinus lifting, bone grafts and 3 implants. The surgeon was able to use high quality implants in this area to reduce the healing time by 3 months. During the aesthetic phase, Lee’s teeth were quite sensitive so to ease the day-to-day pain, 10 root canals were needed.

Treatment time: 6 months

Result: Lee was a cooperative patient. She listened to the surgeon’s post-operative advice and followed it strictly. It was because of this the risks of introducing implants in combination with sinus lifting was mitigated. She showed great healing in all implant areas. The choice to complete treatment in 2 visits and 6 months rather than 3 visits and 9 months was to reduce the trauma to the patients emotional and physical well being and minimise the total treatment time. Lee needed 10 root canal treatments because of the skewed alignment, deep caries and bruxism issues.

Patient complaints: Julian had presented with: an anterior crossbite with class 3 bite (lower jaw teeth in front of upper jaw), severe bruxism that resulted in ground down teeth, a large cavity on a lower anterior tooth and type 2 diabetes.

Treatment plan: All of Julians complaints are able to be resolved using full mouth crowns and so it was recommended. Julian’s blood sugar was too high for implant surgery and he also declined to go through with implants. So dental bridges were recommended for his case.

Result: Julian’s teeth were able to be built back up to a natural, pre-bruxism smile line level. Full mouth crowns also solved his anterior cross bite and class 3 bite problems without intervention of orthodontic treatments.

Patient complaints: Jamie presented with extensive grounding and chipping damage to the front teeth, lower and upper jaw. One tooth was broken above the gingival line. Front teeth were misshapen, discoloured, broken and small. There were previous composite fillings applied to the front teeth for protection and aesthetic.

Treatment plan: Jamie presented with extensive damage to the anterior (front) region and most of the lower jaw. To further protect Jamie from further damage and provide him with a smile makeover, Jamie took full mouth (28) zirconia crowns.

Treatment time: 5 days

Result: Jamie received one root canal treatment to reduce sensitivity. He opted for our full zirconia crowns, smile makeover. By taking into account Jamie’s facial features and symmetry, we are able to build up Jamie’s original tooth size. Jamie’s crowns were fitted in sets of 4-6 because if crowns were placed individually; Jamie’s bruxism would cause teeth to shift position and cause more damage. To fix Jamie’s orthodontic issues, it would take 2-3 years. However, the full smile makeover provides immediate results.

Patient complaints: James presented with advanced bone loss to the upper and lower jaw and invaded sinuses to the upper jaw bone. As a result, all teeth were wobbly and there was no chance to save the natural teeth.

Treatment plan: James had the opportunity to have fixed dentures connected by zygoma implants. This treatment was out of budget and not in line with the patient’s wishes. So a removable, locking denture system was the recommended treatment for James’ smile makeover.

Result: James had 2 implants to the upper jaw and 3 implants to the lower jaw. James had good healing and so after 3 months, his removable locking denture system was created. A locking system was attached to the implants and zirconia full arches. This means that James can enjoy a better quality of life. James’ case is a great example to show that there are options that incorporate the wishes of the patient.

Patient complaints: Jackie presented with multiple cavities and only 4 upper teeth which made chewing quite difficult. Over time, bone had receded away from the teeth leaving them wobbly and the sinus invaded the bone structure. Jackie complained of headaches and constant gum soreness.

Treatment plan: Jackie had 10 tooth extractions, 2 infections (abscesses) on the upper jaw cleaned, 4 implants placed to the upper jaw and 6 implants placed to the lower jaw. 2 Full zirconia arches were then attached 3 months later with 12 teeth per jaw.

Treatment time: 3 months

Result: Jackie received 4 implants to the upper jaw because the sinuses had invaded her bone structure. Whereas the lower jaw had a good amount of healthy bone structure for the all on 6 implant treatment. Jackie had no peculiarities about her smile makeover other than the infections that were removed which resulted in her headaches and gum pains disappearing. Jackie chose the B1 colour for a natural look.

Patient complaints: Fidan presented with discoloured and bruxism-affected teeth. Other than the grinding, Fidan had no other functional abnormalities. Fidan came to Dentares seek a smile makeover.

Treatment plan: Fidan’s oral condition was examined and Emax crowns were recommended for full mouth smile makeover. Crowns were the best option to provide more structural strength against the bruxism. Masseter botox injection was administered to immediately stop the bruxism.

Result: Fidan had no functional abnormalities such as misaligned teeth, missing teeth, and had a class 1 (normal) bite. Which made her a very suitable candidate for Emax crowns. Fidan selected a natural shape smile design with BL2 colour. The second highest white bleach shade.

Patient complaints: Derek presented with an infected wisdom tooth and a large missing gap on the upper left posterior side. He complained of tooth aches and felt he wanted a smile makeover.

Treatment plan: The infected wisdom tooth needed to be removed and for a symmetrical and comfortable bite closure, required implants on the upper left posterior side. Because of the bite force and space in this molar area, implants are a required treatment to provide structure and longevity to Derek’ smile makeover.

Treatment time: 3 months

Result: Derek was an ideal candidate for implant treatment. The surgeon used two Megagen® dental implants for the upper left posterior region. Because the patient was cooperative and the bone structure was healthy and of good quality, implant treatment was finished in 10 minutes. For gaps on the lower side in the posterior region, bridges were a more immediate and appropriate solution for the size of gaps. Derek needed 3 root treatments to avoid prolonged sensitivity with full mouth zirconia crown smile makeover.

Patient Complaints: Claire presented with a broken tooth, multiple caries and almost all teeth had multiple previous restorations. Claire also had abscesses, advanced bone loss of both jaws with 2 invaded sinuses. She could eat food without sharp pains. Claire informed us how previous dental treatment had her traumatised which led to severe dental anxiety. Initially Claire wanted general anaesthesia for implant treatment however after meeting our doctors, staff and seeing the clinic, she felt comfortable enough to continue with local anaesthesia. Had the patient not had treatment, the infections could eventually reach the sinus and cause sinusitis and further complications.

Treatment plan: Claire presented with advanced bone loss and severely damaged and wobbly teeth. So Dr. Oykum recommended the all on 4 implant system for Claire for her smile makeover. Global D® implants were used for their higher quality and increased lifetime.

Result: Claire had her teeth extracted and 8 Global D® implants were placed using the all on 4 implant method. The all on 4 system gives evenly distributed bite force over a full arch (12 teeth per jaw). Claire followed the after-care advice of the surgeon and so all implants healed effectively and all signs of infection were cleared upon her second visit. Claire left happy with a brand new smile thanks to her Dentares Smile Makeover.
